Now playing in iTunes: Mother In Law, Little Mac.
Well, I let a little time get away from me there. I had a pretty good streak going for a while, posting nearly every day, but then things got a bit crazy. Ah well, I didn’t make any promises at the get-go, so your complaints are baseless.
Big project for the past week was creating a “slide show” for Alex’s 8th grade promotion ceremony. I was given two CDs full o’ photos, and had to pick and choose from among those and assemble everything into a 5 to 6-minute presentation. It was daunting — besides just the sheer quantity of photos, several of them needed enhancing, cropping, color correction… And then there was the music to choose!
I ended up using Apple’s Keynote program to build the presentation, and actually did the final assembly in iMovie in order to fine-tune the music timing and crossfades, as well as to export the whole thing to a DV camcorder for the actual exhibition, if you will. Connected the camcorder to an Epson projector via S-video, and then ran the audio through my big Motion Sound stereo keyboard amp — nice big sound.
So how did it go over? Apparently it was a success. The kids seemed to really enjoy the many pics of the class (about 120 in all), and the music seemed to drive it along nicely. Since that night I’ve had three requests for copies of the slide show, with more to come perhaps. I guess I’ll just be burning them to DVDs, as iMovie and the iMac G5 make that pretty easy.
Guess that’s enough for now.
